A special reflection has been composed to mark the conclusion of the 2026 Donegal Camino.
Composed by Brendan Bradas O’Donnell of Glenties, videographer to the Donegal Camino and narrated by John Mc Groary of John’s Walking Ireland, lead guide to the Donegal Camino.
Both have completed their 6th Donegal Camino having started out in their respective roles in the augural 7 day walking festival in 2021.
The Faces of the Journey is dedicated to all who walked, fundraised, donated and supported the 6th Donegal Camino which took place from Donegal Camino Sunday 30th of August to Saturday 5th of September last. The key focus of the Donegal Camino is to continue its role as flagship fundraiser for the Cancer Care West Support Centre, Donegal while showcasing the world class walking in Donegal to the globe.
The Donegal Camino Committee, volunteers and team are thrilled with the success of the 2026 Donegal Camino which welcomed walkers from all over Ireland, North America, Germany, Scotland, the UK and of course Donegal. The atmosphere throughout the entire 7 days was fantastic with walks on the Isle of Doagh and Sliabh Sneacht in Inishowen, Termon Lough Salt, The Old Railway walk, The Bluestack Way, Glenties to O’Neill’s Letterbarrow, Breezy Mountain and of course Sliabh Liag Cliffs.
Close on 700 people walked and fundraised with many familiar faces on the journey and an increasing number of new faces participating as the Donegal Camino brand grows as Ireland’s leading walking festival. Showcasing the world class walks in Donegal are at the heart of the Donegal Camino alongside its core ethos to continue as the flagship fundraiser for the worthy charity and services of Cancer Care West Support Centre, Donegal. Funds raised so far stand at €120,019 and donations are continuing to arrive daily.
“On behalf of the hardworking committee, of the Donegal Camino, I would like to express our sincere thanks to all who walked with us and fundraised”, says John Mc Namara, chair of Donegal Camino and CEO of Sendmode. He went on to say, “We’re beyond grateful to everyone who supported the 6th Donegal Camino, artists, entertainers, sponsors, donators and the wealth of communities who gave so generously to the event and of course our guides who got us safely through the week. We have an excellent operational team along with photography, videography and volunteers who contribute hugely to each day’s walking.”
Donegal Camino continues to count funds raised, reflect on the success of Donegal Camino before announcing all results of this annual fundraiser in the weeks ahead.

Faces of the Journey – Donegal Camino 2026
Composed by Brendan Bradas O’Donnell and Narrated by John Mc Groary
7 Days beneath the Donegal Sky
7 Days go passing by
Mountain, Valley, Road and Sea
And Somewhere there we became we
For every road has harder miles
And every face hidden unseen trials
Unburdened somehow weigh less too
When there’s a hand reaching out to you
We came to walk a journey together
Through sunshine, wind and the Donegal weather
And somewhere between the start and the end
A stranger became a lifelong friend
And when the road gets hard someday
Remember the Faces along the way
For miles will fade
And this much is true
The journey was Donegal
The Camino was You
